1 MW, 2 h battery, GB 2025
A 1 MW, 2-hour battery trading GB day-ahead prices in 2025 would have earned about £36,200 a year (£36,200 per MW), planning each day on last week's prices: 81% of the £45,000 perfect foresight allows. It cycles 1.6 times a day on average.
What this assumes
- A price taker: the battery's trades do not move prices.
- Each day is planned at noon the day before, then settled at the prices that cleared.
- 95% efficiency each way, a £5/MWh wear cost, no capacity fade.
- Revenue scales with power at a fixed duration, so results are per MW times your MW.
